About Little Hurrahs
Jo first came to teach parent and baby classes as part of the Little Signers Club team in 2017, where she ran face to face and online classes in North London.
The world has changed in so many ways since then, on both personal and global levels. The Global Covid-19 Pandemic meant that Little Signers Club leaders had to move classes online, and help families adapt to a new way of interacting. Jo also moved from London to North Wales and became a mum a second time whith the arrival of her daughter. In 2021, Jo launched her own venture - drawing on parenting gurus including Janet Lansbury, Marilyn Daniels, Margot Sunderland, Lauren Peacock, and of course, Little Signers Club's very own Shelley Ensor.
For our little ones: Over 1 million children in the UK start school each year unable to form a full sentence, unable to hold a pen, unable to recognise the alphabet - not to mention the impact of Covid on self confidence and social skills.
For Mamas, Papas and Carers: Postnatal depression (PND) is a common problem that occurs after pregnancy and affects more than 1 in 10 birthing parents within a year of giving birth. It can also affect partners. Jo suffered with PND after giving birth to her son, and knows just how bleak and debilitating it can be. A recent survey has found a substantial increase in the likelihood of maternal depression and anxiety during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In short, there are multiple crises on the horizon if we don't step up and support each other.
Little Hurrahs classes and courses are founded on the principles of respectful and responsive parenting. In a world where 24/7 parenting has suddenly become the norm, many families are struggling to find the balance between angry, shouting, authoritarian 'BECAUSE I SAID SO' parenting and 'anything for an easy life' permissive parenting.
Neither of these approaches are healthy, in the long term, for you, your child, or quite honestly, our society as a whole. With Little Hurrahs classes, using a combination of songs, stories, signs and practical tips and ideas, we explore the third option. The respectful approach to setting boundaries and supporting little ones, and their grown ups, to thrive.
In a safe, supportive and caring group, we will help you to be the best influencer, role model, guardian and champion you can, to help your child achieve their full potential, and bring joy to the sometimes relentless world of parenting.
