Back To Work, Back To Reality...

I had the pleasure of being neighbours with the lovely Charlotte Worth before we made the 'Big Move' to Wales, and now I have the pleasure of sharing some excellent and vital resources from her, with you. Going back to work after having a baby, even for those that are really excited about the prospect, can be quite physically and emotionally exhausting. There are so many things to think about: from what the best day of the week is to go back to work; what hours do you want to do; how are you going to share the parenting and household responsibilities; to what are yours and your partners' future career plans. These are just a few of the things that you really need to sit down and talk through properly with your partner. By doing this, it will truly help you to navigate your way smoothly through those first few months back. When you are a parent of a new baby, exhaustion is just part of the deal, but when you add going to work on top of that it can become a little overwhelming and even for the most career orientated it can kill your drive. So, the key is to make a plan to avoid falling into the exhaustion trap. As a mum of two boys, I know exactly what it is like to go back to a full time job. I sadly didn’t have a plan and after returning to work after my second maternity couldn’t cope with the juggle of being a working parent and left a company I had worked at for years (since leaving uni). At the time it seemed like a great idea, but once I’d made that leap it really didn’t. It has turned out alright in the long run as I am now doing something that I really love, but it took a good few years to start to feel like I was back in the right place. I wish I'd had more support on returning to work, so in order to help other people avoid the mistakes I made, I have put together this talk to help new parents work out all the things they need to think about and plan, so that their return to work is a smooth and happy one and they can have the best of both worlds. The aim of this programme is to help you to achieve that and give advice and guidance on how to make those few months before and after returning to work as smooth as possible. It will enable you to start thinking about all the things you need to do or put in place. Everything from: • Rebuilding your work confidence • Resetting your expectations • Deciding on what hours you might want to do • How to speak to your boss about your return • Planning how things are going to work for you at home as well as back in the workplace. • Q & A Booking Is Now Open Event Details When: Thursday 29th April @ 11am Where: Online Book Your Place Now
